Dandy's new "world's smartest" intraoral scanner

Dandy, a fully-digital dental lab, has debuted two new products to revolutionize the digital dental landscape: an intraoral scanner and an all-in-one touchscreen called DandyCart.

Their new scanner, Dandy Vision, is designed to deliver a quick and effective performance through next-generation options and an AI scan analysis. According to the company's product release, Dandy Vision is 24.9% faster than leading intraoralscanners and can be used to "launch a Live Scan Review in under 60 seconds, receive 3D digital design previews in less than 24 hours and access real-time support from lab-technicians who understand the scanner, the software and their case."1

Integrating AI technology into the scanner allows dentists to see challenging areas the human eye would normally miss while providing real-time crown prep analysis and instant problem detection. The company is calling Dandy Vision the "world's smartest" intraoral scanner with applied insights from over 11.5 million scans.

Carestream Dental releases AI-fueled software for implant planning

Last month, Carestream Dental debuted their new AI-powered software for implant planning at the American Academy of Periodontology's Annual Meeting. CS 3D Imaging Premium is designed to streamline the planning process, improve case acceptance, and simplify case sharing for dental professionals.

CS 3D can present treatment options to patients quickly and efficiently. Here are some key highlights of this new software:

  • AI Auto Implant feature automatically identifies and numbers a patient's teeth and can calculate the crown position, dimensions, position of the virtual implant.

  • The Share My Case service enables users to easily share 3D cases with other clinicians to improve communication.

  • Implant planning data can be exported as STL files to labs or exported directly into Smop or BlueSkyBio software for surgical guide creation.2

Andrew Malcolmson, president of imaging technology solutions at Carestream Dental said: "CS 3D Imaging Premium represents our commitment to driving innovation in digital dentistry ... This launch demonstrates our dedication to transforming clinical workflows and empowering dental professionals to deliver what's next in exceptional care."

Ultradent pivots for a rebrand of their whitening products

Dental materials manufacturer Ultradent is reimagining the look of Opalescence, their line of teeth whitening products. They will be changing in appearance only, maintaining the same familiar formula as previous Opalescence products.

Earlier this year, Ultradent's whitening line underwent a rebrand; their in-office whitening kit Opalescence Boost was renamed to Opalescence Pro while their gel, Opalescence PF, became Opalescence Custom.

On this rebrand, Ultradent President and CEO Dirk Jeffs said: "Opalescence whitening has set the standard in professional teeth whitening for decades. Now, we're refreshing the look and aligning the product family under a clear, modern identity, while continuing to offer the trusted formulas that have built that reputation."3

Despite these name changes, the company promises they will deliver the same results that have made Ultradent a top professional whitening brand.
