Clerri's digital application to bolster patient enrollment

Dentist-focused care membership platform Clerri is releasing what they call the "Bridge," a dental workflow application designed to increase overall practice efficiency. The Bridge can simplify front office tasks, allowing users to view patient membership data to identify ways to increase patient enrollment. It can display patient savings summaries and highlight opportunities to enroll both uninsured and underinsured patients.

The Bridge is compatible with most practice management software (PMS), including Denticon, Dentrix Ascend, Dentrix Core, Dentrix Enterprise, Eaglesoft, and Open Dental. It operates with cloud-based systems like Curve, Practice Works, Dolphin, and Cloud9.

According to a press release by Clerri, "The Bridge was launched in beta to a select group of dental practices earlier this year. Participating practices realized an average increase of 15%-20% in new member sign-ups, and 73% of beta users found the application "extremely easy to use."¹

New dental technology launches by Dentsply

Dental equipment manufacturer Dentsply Sirona is releasing three new products for clinicians: two endodontic sealers and an AI-powered workflow.

Advanced endodontic sealers

Dentsply's Bioceramic ProRoot Bio Sealer and AH Plus Ribbon are two new endodontic sealers for root canal obturation. The ProRoot sealer has a calcium silicate-based formula and a high bioactive cement content to support setting, a high pH, and promote hydroxyapatite formation.

Results from Dentsply's clinical interim study reveal "high short-term healing rates, and more stable radiographic visibility over time, compared to leading bioceramic sealer."

Other features of ProRoot include:

• Flowability/seamless application into the root canal

• Suitability for all obturation techniques

• Easy retreatment

• Nonstaining formula

• Multipurpose flex tip

AH Plus Ribbon is an updated version of Dentsply's original Ribbon sealer. Its improved paste consistency allows for easier mixing and better flowability adhesion for treating a root canal. Overall, this new formula reduces the risk of leakage during the procedure.²

CEREC workflow

Powered by AI, Dentsply has also developed a new workflow to promote Single Visit Dentistry and provide patients with an easier and more agreeable dental office experience. It operates in tandem with the company's CAD/CAM system known as CEREC (chairside economical restoration of esthetic ceramics). CEREC aims to streamline the ceramic restoration process down to a single patient visit.

CEREC allows dentists to receive AI-powered margin and design proposals for crowns, inlays, and onlays through the company's cloud solution platform, DS Core.

Max Milz, group vice president of connected technology solutions at Dentsply Sirona, said: "From scanning and design to manufacturing, all workflow steps can now be managed from any device with a browser, internet connection, and DS Core account. It has never been easier or more affordable to get into the CEREC workflow."³

Oral wound dressing powered by chitosan microspheres

Medical technology company Forward Science is partnering with Sage Dental for the release of PerioStōm, a drug-free oral wound dressing. PerioStōm is FDA-cleared and developed with chitosan microspheres—small particles derived from the naturally-occurring polysaccharide, chitosan.

This product works to protect oral mucosal tissue after procedures like scaling and root planing. The microspheres form a protective barrier over the tissue, providing patients with relief from oral mucosal irritation. Forward Science reported that over a 30-day period, postop patients treated with PerioStōm showed significant improvements in their gingival health and bleeding on probing.⁴

VOCO releases composite with visual-transformation-technology

Dental technology and product leader, VOCO America, is releasing a new universal nanohybrid composite: the GrandioSO 4U. This product is designed to be more "tooth-like" than other composites on the market with an increased flexural strength, elasticity, durability, and a shrinkage rate of only 1.44%. It also has a 10 second, 4 mm depth-of-cure.⁵

VOCO's new composite also uses visual-transformation-technology (VTT) to provide a realistic opacity level. A former VOCO composite covered by Dental News explains how this technology works, noting: "In an uncured state, the material is so translucent that it enables a reliable depth of cure of 4 mm. During light polymerisation, a visual transformation (VTT) takes place. The translucency of the material visibly decreases. Consequently, the desired shade is achieved at a level of opacity that matches the natural tooth."⁶
