Quip launches next-generation smart toothbrush for dental professionals nationwide

Quip has introduced the Ultra Smart Sonic Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush, now available through Henry Schein.1

According to quip, the new Ultra is expected to deliver more than 30% savings compared to retail toothbrushes and provide dental professionals with a more patient-centered solution. The toothbrush is expected to deliver 15 times more plaque removal and twice the whitening within one week compared to a manual toothbrush.

“Our customers are increasingly looking for solutions that bridge clinical efficacy with patient engagement,” Meredith Glansberg, CEO of quip, said in a press release. “Quip Ultra brings a modern, connected approach to home care that aligns with how today’s practices are educating and motivating patients.”

Additional features include Bluetooth connectivity with the quip app, over ten brushing modes, and a battery life of up to 30 days. The company describes the quip Ultra as its most advanced toothbrush to date.

Dentsply Sirona expands DS Core with FDA-cleared CBCT diagnostic AI feature

Dentsply Sirona, a manufacturer of professional dental products and technologies, has launched an FDA-cleared AI-enabled diagnostic aid for detecting teeth with PARL in CBCTs, Smart View Detect.2

The new AI-assisted feature supports clinicians as they review CBCT scans more efficiently and clearly while evaluating PARLs.

But Smart View Detect could go beyond review support; the company states it can enhance communication with patients. It provides a visual image, highlighting areas of interest during discussions of clinical findings.

“Smart View Detect is designed to support dentists at two important moments—when reviewing complex CBCT data and when explaining findings to patients,” Wolf-Dieter Perlitz, senior director of DS Core at Dentsply Sirona said in a press release. “By bringing a first of its kind AI-based diagnosis support into DS Core, we continue to advance the value of Connected Dentistry, helping clinicians feel confident in their evaluations, work more efficiently, and communicate more clearly with patients.”

The system is available through Dentsply Sirona’s DS Core, a cloud-based platform. The AI-assisted feature is integrated into DS Core to provide access directly during the imaging workflow process. Dentsply Sirona states that this approach is intended to reduce clinical or operational complexity and leave room for expanded capabilities.

Smart View Detect is available for new and existing compatible Dentsply Sirona CBCT systems.

Videa unveils new AI system for patient communication

Dental AI platform Videa has recently debuted Ambient Intelligence, a new conversational intelligence feature that is designed to help clinicians learn from patient-provider conversations to provide better care.

The company states that Ambient Intelligence supports dental teams by identifying which approaches help patients move forward with treatment. Its AI voice detection software and conversation documentation is designed to analyze patterns across discussions, case presentations, and other patient interactions.3

The technology is intended to identify areas where patients need more clarification during treatment discussions and provide insight into how providers communicate clinical findings.

“The value of Ambient Intelligence comes down to two things: conversion and hospitality,” said Dr. Chris Salierno, chief dental officer at Tend. “Whether it is coaching a provider on ways to connect better with patients or identifying patterns that impact case acceptance, nothing else gives us that window into the room. It is invaluable.”3

Kettenbach releases dental prosthetics with natural biomechanical structure

Dental material manufacturer Kettenbach Dental has released its VISALYS® BioCeramic Block, a CAD/CAM block designed to replicate aspects of a natural biomechanical structure.4

“We asked ourselves what it takes to make a perfect imitation of nature possible in dentistry. In doing so, we worked on replicating the natural biomechanics and appearance of natural teeth,” Katrin Schröder, senior global product manager of digital restoration said in a press release.4

According to Kettenbach, the VISALYS® BioCeramic Block was designed to have an aesthetic appeal alongside a natural base, with a structure inspired by dentin and enamel. The company states that the material is applied with a natural force distribution in the oral cavity for restorations.

As of May 2026, the product is now available for purchase in the US.
