The first automix core material

Pearl 1 - LuxaCore by Zenith. Just out on the market is another great idea from the folks at Zenith - the first automix core material. I have been using a light-cure composite core material for many years. This is the first material to come along to challenge the ease of use of my old material. LuxaCore is a superior build-up material that is delivered in a one-step, automix cartridge which eliminates the need to mix a base and catalyst material and fill a syringe to deliver it. You simply place a small, curved dispensing tip on the cartridge mixing tip and place the material directly on the tooth. This makes placing a build-up faster, better, and easier - a real time- and step-saver! Because LuxaCore is a self-cure material, it eliminates the need for layering and permits bulk fill. The material sets quickly and can be bonded directly to tooth structure. It is available in a blue color to distinguish the material from the tooth or in a natural tooth color. LuxaCore is a great composite that cuts like dentin when you are prepping the tooth. The material also releases fluoride to reduce secondary decay. Thanks, Zenith, for another great product. Order yours today and get a free technique video featuring my friend, Dr. Ross Nash. Order from your dealer, or call Zenith at (800) 662-6383 for more details.

Pearl 2 - IPS Empress2 by Ivoclar North America. Ivoclar has just introduced a new Empress material for three-unit bridges that has improved upon the great characteristics of IPS Empress. With additional strength and increased fracture toughness, IPS Empress2 is indicated for anterior all-ceramic bridges and full-coverage anterior and posterior single units. The new material is for full-coverage three-unit bridges from the second bicuspid forward with a single pontic. This new-found strength results from a change in the formulation of the chemical structure. The Ivoclar chemists can explain this much better than I can. This new glass ceramic material allows for some great shading, so it is about as close to natural tooth color as you can get. You now can create more biocompatible restorations, and your ceramist can achieve more natural results. Research has shown the IPS Empress2 material to exhibit the lowest wear of antagonist tooth structure of any ceramic on the market today. Your IPS Empress lab will be able to use a similar "press" technology and the same equipment as the IPS Empress system. IPS Empress2 can be adhesively bonded to the tooth or, in situations that do not permit an adhesive bond, you can cement with ProTecCEM, a new low-expansion hybrid-ionomer cement or a glass-ionomer cement. A great combination of strength, great natural-looking shades, adhesive bonding, and low-wear characteristics make this an exciting new product for the "esthetic revolution"! Order from your lab, or call Ivoclar North America at (800) 533-6825 for more info. Do it now!

Pearl 3 - PermaQuick PQ1 by Ultradent. I have always been a fan of the syringe delivery systems for which Ultradent has become famous. PQ1 is a single-component bonding system that falls into that category as well. With a fast and easy syringe delivery system, all you need to do is add a tip to make this bonding agent the simplest to deliver. The delivery tip contains a small brush to aid in the precise delivery of the material. You get a strong bond with fluoride release. The material is 40 percent filled in an ethyl alcohol carrier. PQ1 is another great product that makes life in the treatment room easier for everyone. If you are concerned about cross-contamination of the syringes in the treatment room, Ultradent has a solution for that as well. Ultradent Syringe Covers are designed to cover the syringe during each use to prevent cross-contamination and to make your life easier in the sterilization area of the office. This is a nifty system that utilizes a small impulse sealer and has really made our sterilization system much simpler. So, give Ultradent a call at (800) 520-6635 to order PQ1 and the syringe covers. Do yourself a favor and get Ultradent`s latest catalog today.

Pearl 4 - Self-Contained Air Purification Systems. Have you ever experienced Alpine-mountain fresh air? Do you recall the smell of the fresh, clean air right after a thunderstorm? How would you like that experience in your office or home every day? I have it, both in the office and at home. I have not done any scientific research, but I have noticed that with an air-purification system, office and home odors are gone and the air smells so much fresher. My wife, who is very susceptible to upper-respiratory infections, has not been sick since we installed the unit at home. A sensor continuously monitors the air quality to match strict environmental standards. The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that indoor air is up to 10 times more polluted than outdoor air, making indoor air pollution America`s number-one environmental health problem that results in the "sick building" syndrome. Just consider what we do in our working environment - air/water sprays, handpieces, Cavitrons, prophy jets that produce an aerosol of water, bacteria, viruses, secretions, exudates, and dental materials that cause contamination. This can cause exposure to various infectious diseases both of viral and bacterial origin. We use a number of techniques to try controlling or at least reducing the danger of microbial splatter with masks and shields, knowing that they have only a minimal effect on the bacterial aerosols, and we are unable to filter out the bacteria and viruses. OSHA is already getting involved. Clinical studies have proved that ionization substantially reduces microbial air pollution in dental offices. These air-purification units incorporate an ion/ozone system that purifies the air in our living and working environments. Call Dr. Paul Jacobi, an independent Alpine distributor, right now at (888) 787-2636. Paul is a retired dentist and a wonderful practice-management consultant and lecturer. Let him tell you how easy it is to get one of these great air purifiers. They wor
