What to see at the 152nd annual Chicago Midwinter Meeting:

But first, a word on dental toys from Dr. Simmons

I like new dental toys, but then again, who doesn't? There's nothing more satisfying than implementing new technology in your office that enhances the ability to improve patient care. You also have to admit that the "wow" factor is a plus too. But buying new equipment is one thing—you have to ask yourself about investment return, ease of use, hidden costs, and of course, frequency of use. Trust me, I've regrettably been caught up in the sweet talk before, and as a result I have some things collecting dust in a box in the basement.

To avoid this, I've taken to asking a lot of questions. The more questions I ask, the better I can envision how a new product will fit into my workflow—and the bottom line.

In this feature, I'm joined by my colleagues Drs. Austin, Maragliano-Muniz, and Salierno, and together we've asked lots of questions about new products and services debuting at this year's Chicago Midwinter Meeting.

Chicago's annual dental meeting is known for its chilly temperatures. It's also known for its new technology releases, thanks in part to the show's large attendance and schedule dates (i.e., the start of the calendar year). If you're going to Chicago, check out the booths of our featured companies. If you're not going, there are still plenty of ways to dig deeper into these products and services—we've included information on how to do that too.

In asking questions for this article, we learned a lot in a short amount of time. We hope you do too. So, read up my friends—you'll definitely be intrigued!
