The ADA also is lobbying to increase the special pay for dental-health professionals in the military and to re-establish special pay for dentists in the Reserves. Now, dentists serving in the military Reserve receive special pay if they are called to active duty for more than 30 consecutive days. The ADA also is seeking a $30,000 bonus for new dental school graduates entering the military, pointing to a steady decline in compensation for military dentists. That means dentists aren`t attracted to the military because they aren`t paid enough money, especially when they have huge dental school debts to pay off.
