New patient brochure explains reasons

“Crowns, Veneers, Inlays & Onlays. Why Can’t I Just Have a Filling?” is the newest brochure to join the Stepping Stones to Success family of products. Dentists and staff frequently have detailed models, pictures, and photos to show their patients, but less frequently do they have written support as to why these restorations may be preferable to “fillings” and why they are more expensive. This brochure focuses on the answers to “Why can’t I have a filling?” It is written in easy-to-understand, positive terms that can back up office descriptions and illustrations. (There are no photos or illustrations; the brochure is an adjunct to office models and pictures.) It addresses common indications for crowns, veneers, inlays and onlays, talks about insurance benefits and why these services have limited coverage, and answers the question, “If my insurance will not pay, why should I have this done?” It was written by Carol Tekavec, RDH, an insurance columnist for Dental Economics®, speaker for the ADA Seminar Series, and a practicing dental hygienist. The cost is $35 for 50 brochures, plus UPS shipping.

Sago Corp. spec-ializes in providing new patients for dental offices through its AAA Call Center. AAA Call Center’s expert booking agents will contact residents near the dental office and offer a $1 check up with one or two necessary X-rays. The potential client will then be immediately transferred to the dentist’s receptionist, or the agent will make an appointment based on the schedule the dentist provides. If the potential client does not show on the scheduled time, AAA Call Center will automatically re-schedule. There are no long-term contracts, just a simple month-to-month agreement. There are no hidden fees, and the dentist only pays per appointment. Compared to other marketing tools, AAA Call Center will provide the best return on investment plus free advertising and residuals.

Distributed exclusively to licensed dental professionals by Discus Dental, Inc., Aphthasol is the first FDA-approved and only prescription drug specifically indicated for the treatment of aphthous ulcers in healthy adults. Studies show that up to 25 percent of dental patients suffer from Recurrent Aphthous Ulcers (RAU) but, until now, treatment options have been marginally effective or simply palliative. Finally, Aphthasol is clinically proven to accelerate healing and reduce pain.

Aphthasol, Amlexanox Oral Paste (5%), is a tasteless and odorless mucoadhesive paste that is known to be a potent inhibitor of mast cells and allergic response. Mast cells are found in greater quantities in RAU lesions when compared with healthy mucosa. Aphthasol is proven to provide 72 percent faster healing time and 90 percent faster pain resolution when compared to no treatment.

A-dec now offers a line of cabinet-mounted systems that keep instrumentation out of the direct view of patients while facilitating greater productivity. Ergonomically designed, A-dec 500 12 o’clock systems feature a round, rotating, and height-adjustable worksurface with plenty of room. Assistant’s instrumentation rotates around the worksurface and, with five pivot points, offers better visibility, less stretching, and reduced motion. On the Duo Delivery system, doctor’s instrumentation moves independently from the worksurface and includes four pivot points and individually adjustable instrument holders to improve positioning.

The new systems seamlessly integrate ancillary devices that formerly required cumbersome boxes, wires, and tubing. All of this is now hidden inside, with provisions for future new technologies. An optional deluxe touchpad offers streamlined controls for chair, dental light, handpiece functions, and other integrated accessories.
