The new ExpaBent® Rapida, a palatal expander with prebent arms and Muscle Thread® for a super-rapid separation, is available from American Tooth Industries. It features such improvements as laser-engraved numbering, directional arrows and batch numbers. The welding of the palatal arms into the body of the screw has been changed over to a laser-welding process. This eliminates the use of brazing material, which allows for production totally from surgical-grade stainless steel. Laser-welding also eliminates any chance of the leg breaking away from the body of the expander as it virtually fuses the two parts together.
