Wedges can be used to hold the gingival edges snugly against the teeth, but they don?t need to be shoved in forcefully. There?s no longer any need to separate the adjacent teeth in order to compensate for a matrix band that is too thick. Microbands are available in three shapes and in a slightly thicker (.0006O) version for burnishing.
