Digital Video Disc (DVD) is the new direction of entertainment and computer companies. It replaces videotape, audio CDs, CD-ROM, CD-I and laser discs. DVD has 720 pixels per scan line, compared to 240 with conventional video. Plus, DVD is capable of 500 lines of horizontal resolution, more than twice that of the previous industry standard.
