I have always believed that the best way to dispense any adhesive was in a single-dose unit.
FUTURABOND® U: DUAL-CURE UNIVERSAL ADHESIVE

FROM VOCO.

I have always believed that the best way to dispense any adhesive was in a single-dose unit. Every time you squeeze a drop of adhesive from a bottle, you introduce air into the bottle and evaporate some of the solvent. Futurabond U has two main advantages in today's dental adhesive market. First, it has universal indications for all adhesive procedures without the need of any additional activators. Second is Futurabond U's ability to prevent solvent evaporation by packaging the adhesive in a unit dose delivery system. This ensures reliable and predictable results with each application so that the first bond will be as good as the last bond out of the bottle. This product's versatility allows it to be used in self-selective-, or total-etch mode without any additional primers or activators on virtually all substrates. It achieves total-etchbond strength levels with all light-, self-, and dual-cure resin based composites, cements, and core buildup materials. As a dual-cure adhesive, Futurabond U will self-cure without any light activation. This offers a big advantage for endodontic applications such as post cementation where it avoids the pooling effect. This is a problem with light-cured adhesives. It also adheres well to metal, zirconia, and ceramic to make extra primers unnecessary. In everyday use, I have found that this material is efficient since you need to place only one coat. The whole procedure takes just 35 seconds from start to finish. Futurabond U has a low film thickness of only 9 microns. This makes bonding margins invisible (no "halo" effect), and prevents pooling problems. You can use it to desensitize hypersensitive teeth and for intraoral repair of ceramic and composite restorations. VOCO has priced this unit dose product to be the same as or less than competing bottle systems. This is truly a faster, better, easier adhesive that is less expensive to use.

THERMA-FLO™ APPLICATOR

BY VISTA DENTAL.

Perhaps there is a better way to place a composite than using a flowable composite to get into all those nooks and crannies. We know that a flowable composite is inferior to highly filled composite, especially when it comes to wear. What if you could transform your favorite highly filled composite to make it flow like a flowable? The heating technology of Therma- Flo™ significantly increases the flow characteristics of highly filled composites while helping to increase polymerization and improve depth of cure. Heat has been shown to lower the viscosity of composite material, providing you with more control while allowing the material to flow better and adapt well to cavity walls. As a result, voids are reduced, reducing the risk of secondary caries. Vista Dental's Therma-Flo products combine automation with heat to deliver a product that is revolutionizing the way we do restorations. I have been heating composite
for years in my practice. But this new system by Vista has made heating composite even easier. The physical and handling properties are improved by heating composite without modifying color or stability. If this sounds too good to be true, then consult the literature, and you will find a number of research articles on heating composites. You will find that the incremental placement of composite material becomes so much easier when you use Therma-Flo. In fact, this product will change your clinical practice because it will allow you to give patients beautiful restorations that will last for years. Therma-Flo™ products are uniquely engineered to use heat for optimal performance of any preferred composite material. Vista has two products for the delivery of heated composites. First, the patented Therma-Flo™ Composite Applicator™ provides automated delivery of composite material with the press of a button. The handpiece heats at the point of delivery to maintain optimal flowability throughout the procedure. The Composite Applicator™ provides unmatched versatility to enhance all restorations from micro fill to bulk fill. Second, the Therma Flo™ Composite Warming Kit allows for the benefits of heated composites without the automated delivery. Both of these products allow you to use highly filled composites in a wider variety of applications. Vista's new patent-pending Step-Down™ tips are designed to enhance the performance of both Therma-Flo™ products. These uniquely designed tips are designed to fit on most composite manufacturer capsules. Step-Down™ tips offer a new delivery option that enables doctors to use considerably less composite material, thus requiring less manipulation to place the material. These tips have an extended length with a narrow profile for deeper access and precision placement of composite, particularly where you need optimal visualization. They are available in a 2X and 4X orifice reduction. You can reduce incremental layering of composite material in challenging restorations and make your tedious procedures simpler to save time on each patient.

MI VARNISH™ WITH RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP) TECHNOLOGY –

ADDS A NEW "FRESH MINT" FLAVORBY GC AMERICA

Last year, GC America introduced MI Varnish with RECALDENT ™ technology for the treatment and relief of hypersensitive teeth in a fresh strawberry favor. Now a new great-tasting fresh mint favor has been added to the fuoride varnish line. MI Varnish with RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP) releases bioavailable calcium and phosphate ions into the saliva to gain that extra boost of protection. It enhances enamel acid resistance and contributes to high salivary calcium and phosphate levels. MI Varnish seals and penetrates
into dentinal tubules, effectively blocking out external stimuli. MI Varnish fresh mint has a smooth and creamy texture upon application and dries clear. Additionally, it is not tacky or sticky when applied. The fresh mint favor is appealing to adults and teens. The difference is in the RECALDENT ™ (CPP-ACP). This makes MI Varnish a natural and unique choice for dentists, staffs, and patients. Dentists can offer patients a comprehensive inoffce and at-home treatment plan. MI Varnish joins MI Paste™ and MI Paste Plus™ in providing a comprehensive system for the dental professional team. If a patient has a moderate to high caries risk assessment, use MI Varnish in-offce, and then instruct the patient to continue daily care at-home with regular use of MI Paste or MI Paste Plus to enhance the calcium and phosphate bioavailability. MI Varnish, used in conjunction with MI Paste and MI Paste Plus, results in a well-rounded treatment plan that enables patients to maintain strong, healthy teeth. It is available in a 50-unit dose box. The unique unit dose containers are easy to open and contain enough material for a typical full-mouth application.

VERA

BY YOUNG™

This is the frst new design of a prophy angle in many years. Three years in the design and production, this smaller prophy angle is unique in its many features. Vera by Young has a compact head with a slim neck designed to ft easier in the tight spaces of the mouth. The slim design makes it easier to see what you are doing. All of these unique features are designed to deliver maneuverability in the mouth during polishing. Using this prophy angle allows for easy reach and access in a variety of clinical situations, such as tight buccal mucosa, small mouths, and third molars. Vera by Young's design makes polishing the distal region of posterior molars easy. Vera by Young can reach different areas of the mouth with ease, while its smooth, round head design also can help with patient comfort. This new prophy angle is recommended for all patients, especially those with small mouths and crowded dentition. It will also improve polishing on pediatric patients. I gave some of the Vera by Young prophy angles to my hygienist, Karen Reiner, to try. She was delighted with their performance. She liked the shortness of the prophy angle, believing that she had more control of the handpiece. She also found that the round head design was more comfortable for patients, and that it was much easier to polish the distal portion of posterior molars. Vera by Young provides the same durable performance for which Young is known, making polishing enjoyable for hygienists and patients.
