    CollaGenex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. introduces Periostat®, a unique, first-of-its-kind oral medication that improves the effectiveness of professional periodontal care. It is a pill to be prescribed by the periodontist or dentist following scaling and root-planing (SRP), the most common procedure for treating adult periodontitis that involves the mechanical removal of bacterial plaque above and below the gum line.
