It probably does not surprise anyone that I am writing this from an airplane. My entire family is on our way south to see my first granddaughter, Marissa Lee Blaes, graduate from Forest High School in Ocala, Florida, with honors. I hope that sounds like a proud grandfather because I certainly am proud of her achievements. I wish her the very best in her next adventure. After the graduation, we will party in Ocala and then drive down to St. Pete Beach and stretch out on the beautiful white sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. Most of our family vacations have been spent at various places from Alabama to the tip of Florida on these great beaches.

Life is so busy that you must have balance. You work hard, you play hard, and you need to learn to relax to recharge. We probably will not do anything except sleep in, lie on the beach, swim in the gulf, enjoy the great seafood in Florida, and just relax and have fun. These are special times since as the grandkids get older, it is harder to get everyone together with all the summer schedules that they have. Before you know it, they will be back in school again.

The year is half over! Have you revisited your practice vision lately? Are your goals written down and posted so you see them every morning before you start to work? Are you meeting your goals? Do you need to make some changes and get recharged? There is nothing stronger than goals that are written down to motivate and guide you in the direction that you have chosen. Goals that are only in your mind don’t count! They need to be written down and SHARED to really make a difference in your life! I urge you to get off by yourself and let your mind explore the impossible. Dream the impossible dream and you will find a way to fulfill it!

This is absolutely the best time to be a dentist! The 100 Best Jobs in America 2013 was published in the U.S. News & World Report, December 19, 2012. The number one job in America for 2013 is DENTIST! The ranking was based on the expected growth by the year 2020. According to the article, dentistry is expected to grow by 21% by 2020. The latest Gallup Poll asking the public to rate the professions on honesty and ethical standards rated dentists as number FIVE! I have always believed in modeling. If something has been done before, then it can probably be done again. I modeled my practice on a highly successful practice in St. Louis and my practice became highly successful.

I have another family story to tell you. The fastest growing sport in the United States is lacrosse. In training to become a good lacrosse player, you must learn to pass and catch the ball. Usually you need to find someone to practice with. My grandson Nick wanted to play lacrosse, so his dad bought him a rebounder to practice on. It was made in China and was such poor quality that in a few months it fell apart. My son-in-law, Kurt, felt that he could make a better one that would not only last longer; it would also return the ball better. Well, to make a long story short, he has invented and patented the AllBall Pro Training Rebounder. It is without a doubt the very best way to train for lacrosse. The AllBall Pro does not use any kind of elastic systems to put tension on the net. The rebounder will return any ball at over 90% of the speed that it was thrown at the net. Nick can now practice as long as he wants without worrying about finding a partner. The net is set higher for training for lacrosse since the player is throwing from a higher position with the stick. The AllBall Pro is the best rebounder for any sport that uses a ball – soccer, baseball, softball, football, volleyball, and golf. It is built in America to last for a lifetime of play. I invite you to check it out on www.allballpro.com.

I hope you will enjoy the summer weather and take some time off to enjoy, relax, and recharge. You owe it to yourself, your spouse, your family, your dental team, and your patients.
