In other ADA news, the association sent letters to the National Governor`s Association and every member of Congress, criticizing the NGA plan to restructure Medicaid and cut back on dental care for the poor. The governor`s proposal would guarantee dental services to children only through age 12 and allow the states to decide how much and what kind of services. "The past three decades have clearly shown that states, when faced with budgetary constraints, have curtailed or eliminated Medicaid adult-dental care, and with increasing frequency, have attempted to provide only the most minimal of children`s dental care." The association urged the governors to make sure there`s a safety net for dental coverage and a guarantee of adequate care for children.
