No More 'Just a Cleaning, Please' — How To Build the Ideal Continuing-Care Department
We consider the most important factor of an ideal continuing-care department to be the purposeful conversations that happen during the adult prophy, periodontal maintenance visit, or the quadrant of scaling and root planing. These conversations identify and address patients' motivators and concerns; educate about oral health issues; build commitment to a lifetime of oral care; support self-esteem and success; and encourage referrals.

Building a Better You column: "Get Creative When Sending Mail, Voice Mail, and Name Recall"
How often do you receive a standard envelope in the mail? How many times have you heard "I'm away from my desk or on the phone. Please leave a message at the sound of the tone, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible"? How frequently do you get asked, "I didn't catch your name. What's your name?" Take off your sign that reads "I am so predictable." Get creative!

Yet, life gets stale and we yearn for growth and newness. What's a person to do? In order to embrace change, you must change the way you look at change. Change is an opportunity to create something new so that your life becomes more fulfilling. How wonderful is that?
