Planmeca USA announces new Prosensor Intraoral Digital Imaging System
ROSELLE, Illinois--Planmeca USA has introduced a new product in the digital intraoral X-ray field--the Prosensor Digital Imaging System.
The Planmeca ProSensor combines durability with an enhanced functionality, said Bob Pienkowski, president, Planmeca USA.
The ProSensor uses the latest complementary metal oxide semiconductor technology while offering dentists advanced design features that deliver a technologically advanced product.
Pienkowski explained that "the ProSenor was designed to withstand the rigorous use that frequently occurs in a dental office. The cable is strengthened with Kevlar, and inside the cable there are only two wires. This construction has proved extremely durable in testing consisting of bending the cable more than 100,000 times."
The active imaging area of the sensor extends to the whole surface for maximized imaging performance. Hermetically sealed, the sensor can be fully immersed in disinfectant for effective infection control and prevention.
The ProSensor is available in three sizes--0, 1, and 2. Each is easily distinguished from the other with a clear symbol on the magnetic connector, assisting the ease of use.
Each size correlates to the type of patient a dental office will treat: 0 for pediatric patients, 1 for older children and teens, and 2 for adults. Each sensor is among the thinnest on the market today, and the size 2 sensor is designed with rounded edges to improve patient comfort.
The sensors are connected to a single interface box with a magnetic connector--a new application in the dental market and exclusive to Planmeca, according to Pienkowski.
Planmeca's sensor technology allows dentists to process images immediately, creating a quicker response for patients while enhancing dental office efficiency.
The magnetic connector allows easy connection and one-hand operation. This helps ensure the sensor is correctly inserted. Moreover, it enhances not only usability but also safety. In case the X-ray source or patient moves drastically, the connection is instantly interrupted to eliminate the risk of compromising the durability of the sensor.
The interface box features LED lights that change colors to indicate the state of the sensor system, guiding the user and helping ensure successful image acquisition and better image quality.
When connected to the LED port on the interface box, the sensor monitors each step of the image acquisition process providing instantaneous feedback through the display of different colors to indicate current status of digital system.
The Planmeca ProSensor uses the latest imaging technology. The software displays patient images in a single interface. Planmeca Romexis is compatible with industry standard DICOM and with other thrd party software. It is pure Java-based software that runs in various operating systems and modern Web environments.
The ProSensor system has the ability to connect via Ethernet connectivity, which allows Planmeca to match the dentist's network environment. An Ethernet connection does not anchor a dentist to one connection.
"Dentists don't have to be tied down to one USB connection with the ProSensor system--all you need is network connectivity and you have freedom to operate the system in any of your operatories," Pienkowski said.
In addition, the Planmeca Prosensor features a five-year warranty program.
