RICHMOND, Virginia--Mercury Data Exchange and United Concordia Companies have implemented Real Time Adjudication, an approach to dental claims processing.

This capability is now available for all United Concordia dental offices.

During the past six months, MDE has more than tripled the volume of RTA claims submitted to United Concordia. The company attributes this growth to dental providers' desire to increase administrative efficiencies, decrease cost, and improve patient service.

RTA can provide immediate notification of a patient's responsibility for services provided. For those patients requiring future visits, RTA displays a patient's specific benefit coverage to the dental staff, allowing the practice to work with the patient to create a budget plan.

"Utilizing MDE, United Concordia dental offices are able to access information electronically while the patient is in the office. This increases over-the-counter collection and can eliminate the need for patient statements and follow-up billing."
