Protective coating increases wear resistance of restorations

December 27, 2006

GC America has announced G-Coat Plus, a new nanofilled self-adhesive, light- cured protective coating.

G-Coat Plus:

* Provides a clear glossy surface for composite resins, glass ionomers, jacket crowns, veneers, and provisionals.

* Protects glass ionomer restorations against white spots and micro cracking caused by excessive water contamination during initial cure.

* Increases the wear resistance of restorations.

* Restores esthetic appearance and marginal integrity when used to repair the interface between restorations and marginal tooth structure.

* Can be cured with LED or Halogen lights.

"G-COAT PLUS contains an adhesive monomer not formulated into other esthetic protective coatings on the market. This monomer provides excellent bond to all surfaces without the need for separate etching or bonding. Uniformly dispersed nanofillers in G-Coat Plus provide long lasting and even wear resistance across the restorative surface for a more natural appearance," said Dr. Robert Lee, director of marketing, GC America Inc.

"G-Coat Plus provides a high gloss finish with one application right after shaping, saving clinicians valuable time by replacing multiple polishing steps. Additionally, G-Coat Plus seals the interface between tooth structure and restorative material protecting and extending the life of a restoration."

G-Coat Plus will be available Jan. 1, 2007, from GC authorized dental dealers.
