Dental Innovations offers elastic retraction loops. The loops of elastic thread tighten around the base of a preparation by one tug on their free ends. They hold their tension and seat themselves gently in the base of the gingival sulcus with little or no packing. Although they cannot be used for PFMs with long, convex facial surfaces, they retract interproximal tissue so easily that they can be used for Class 2 fillings, as well as inlays, onlays, and 3/4 crowns. The long steps make them easy to dip in medicament prior to application. They are available in two thicknesses.
